SERVICES PROVIDED: The program provides one primary service. Hot meals are delivered during the noon hour by volunteer drivers Monday through Friday (including Holidays that fall during the week). The meals are delivered to the homes of senior citizens, convalescents, and persons of any age who are homebound and having difficulty preparing meals for themselves. On Friday one to four weekend meals are provided to clients when needed, particularly those without family or those who are unable to prepare a meal for themselves. Refrigeration is a must. Approximately one-third of the consumers receive these. Those requiring two meals Monday through Friday, receive the second meal with the noon hour delivery.
A check of the consumer's well-being is made five days each week. Anything amiss is reported. Reports are checked daily and a follow-up visitation is made as appropriate. Referral to another agency sometimes follows. Meals on Wheels employs a full time social worker to facilitate these services.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: In need of nutrition with no age barriers.
Fees: According to income and ability to pay. Sliding scale. Recommended donations are $2.50 per meal for those 60 years and older and their spouses, and $4.25 for those under 60.
Staff: Executive Director, Dietary Manager, seven Kitchen Aides, an Administrative Assistant, a Bookkeeper, a Social Worker, a Custodian, and a Receptionist.

Client Application Procedures: Referrals are taken by phone or at the M.O.W. facility from agencies, consumers, families, physicians, neighbors, and home health agencies. A list of questions will be addressed regarding age, type of diet required, etc. and the client's physician will be contacted.
Volunteer Driver Application Procedures: Licensed drivers willing to invest as little as 1 1/2 hours a week, and a little gasoline, to deliver meals, should call the Meals on Wheels staff at 265-8659.

Individualized parenting instruction is also offered for specific problems. Baby Steps Experimental parenting for parents and children under 6. Community and School Education Programs - informative programs on substance abuse and related subjects are available for presentation to schools and various community groups. Alcohol Education - monthly courses are offered to individuals who are convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). The purpose is to deter future similar offenses. Alternatives to Anger and Conflict for Youth offered on a regular basis. M.I.P./Insight II Education for 1st time offenders. Smokers Intervention classes for teens. We also offer daycare for our students from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
