Foods That Fight Fatigue And Boost Energy
One of the best ways to fight fatigue is by eating energy boosting foods. These foods have to be selected carefully so as to avoid getting opposite results. What most of us do when we feel fatigued is to go and eat or drink. We always forget about what we are eating or drinking. The choice of food here is very important because it can either enable us boost energy and fight fatigue or fail to achieve either of these. Therefore go for any or a combination of the foods mentioned below and boost your energy level whenever you feel fatigued
1. Foods rich in protein
They include fish, nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts), eggs, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, peanut butter, tofu, soy milk, beans, and legumes. The meats you eat should be leaner.
2. Foods rich in healthy fats
They include walnuts, fatty fishes (like salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel, tuna and lake trout), olive oil, safflower oil and canola oil.
3. Foods rich in fiber
They include cereals (raisin bran, oatmeal, shredded wheat, etc.), legumes, fruits and vegetables, beans, lentils, and whole wheat pasta.
4. Plant-based iron
Studies have shown that iron sourced from plants can make you energized. This has especially been proven in women. Iron helps in transporting oxygen to the cells thus boosting energy products. You can get iron by eating sesame seeds, spinach, lentils, beans and foods rich in vitamin C.
5. Take a lot of healthy drinks
Dehydration is a big risk factor for fatigue. When you are dehydrated, you feel drained and fatigued. Water is the most recommended drink to consume. You can also drink healthy soups or ice cream. But avoid caffeine because it can make you feel tired. If you cannot do without caffeine, it is recommended to take black coffee.
6. Eat fresh or natural foods and avoid processed foods
Fresh foods contain high nutrients. However, processed foods can slow you down. Additionally, eat small meals frequently. If you are going out, cook and pack your foods or snacks so as to avoid the temptation of going for unhealthy snacks that are almost everywhere nowadays.
